No time? No equipment? How to still make gains off the course

A lot of conversations I have with clients, time and equipment always come up as reasons for not pushing their training in busy times of the year or when away on golf trips. However you can really push the needle in many phyiscal attributes that are benefical for golf.

Lets break down what and how:

Mobility-

If you’ve listened to any of our podcasts (mobility, habits) you will know that engaging in just five minutes of daily mobility work can yield remarkable benefits for your overall well-being. By dedicating this brief time to gentle stretches, movements, and joint exercises, you gradually enhance your flexibility, joint health, and range of motion. Consistency is key, as this simple routine helps alleviate muscle stiffness, reduces the risk of injuries, and enhances your body's functional movement. This short investment in mobility pays off in improved posture, increased energy levels, and a greater sense of physical comfort. Incorporating five minutes of daily mobility work into your routine can lead to profound enhancements in your daily activities and long-term health. Power-

As touched on in our last blog on physical attributes for Club Head Speed; such as jump height, explosive upper and lower body and jump impulse, all of these can be worked on without any equipment at all! And actually they don’t need too much volume (time) to be pushed. A simple routine of jumps, balistic upper body work and core can be sufficent for becoming more powerful. Again we have so much within the Macro golf app.

Strength-

Now depending on your training history we might not be able to push as much as an hour in the gym here, however you can definitely stop yourself moving backwards. We just one resistance band and 30 minutes, you would be surprised how good a workout you can get. The trick is to have a structure and a plan. Maybe you add in supersets or follow more of a circuit, what I typically suggest for clients is you try some more advanced movements that maybe with weight you might avoid. Challenge yourself, how much volume and stimulus can you provide your body within 30 minutes?

The key to making the most of your workouts with less time and equipment is making sure you have a plan. Knowing what you are trying to achieve, how to track that, making sure you’re recovering properly and what time you can dedicate to all of that... Without having a plan you are just guessing and then you wonder why you aren’t seeing any progress? Perhaps you then give up? Does that sound familiar?

It’s what we do best at Macro Golf, we work with our clients to provide a layout that slots into our clients lifestyles. You’d be surprised to see in how little time you could see the benefits of following a proper plan. Get in touch and see how we can help you.
